SMART ePANTS Phase II

SMART ePANTS Phase II Awarded to Areté

Areté’s Terrestrial Sector has been awarded a $2.15M cost-plus‑fixed-fee Phase II follow-on contract for IAPRA’s Smart ePants Project.

The SMART ePANTS program seeks to develop clothing with integrated sensor systems that feature the same stretchability, bendability, washability, and comfort of regular textiles. Phase II of the project is designated the “Wear It” phase for which comfortable e-Garments will be developed.

Work will be performed in Areté’s Tucson and Falls Church offices, with substantial contributions from our partners: Arizona State University, University of Michigan, Interwoven Design Group LLC, and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland (EPFL).

This contract was competitively procured via IARPA Broad Agency Announcement N66001-22-S-4705 entitled “Smart Electrically Powered and Networked Textile Systems (SMART ePANTS) Program”. Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific is the contracting activity.
